Tuning What You're Told
You control how chatty the analyzer is, without ever losing a real error. Open Settings → Diagnostics.
Three category toggles
Three categories, all on by default (opt-out):
- Style suggestions
- Best-practice advisories
- Type-coercion warnings
Turn off just Style suggestions if semicolon nags bother you, while keeping best-practice and coercion warnings active. Errors are always shown and can never be hidden — only Warning/Info/Hint diagnostics are governed by these toggles.
Per-rule overrides
Expand Advanced to toggle individual rule codes one at a time. Overridden rules get a Custom tag, and a Reset button clears all overrides at once.
These screenshots were captured in an earlier beta. Toolbar and Library layouts have since changed; the written instructions on this page describe v0.145.4. See A Tour of the Panel for the current controls.
Educational hovers
The same Educational hovers checkbox from Hover Documentation lives here too — uncheck it for terse, signature-only hovers instead of the full teaching prose.
Every change in this section applies live to every open editor, and persists across sessions.
Target-property-aware diagnostics
When eXLib knows which AE property your expression is attached to — from your live selection — it validates against that property's real value type and dimension.
- Selecting a 1D property like Opacity and indexing it as if it were a vector fires a dimension-mismatch that would not fire on a 2D Position.
- Ending an expression selected on Position with a bare scalar like
opacityflags a real "this won't apply" error — matching what AE itself rejects at apply time.
Switching your selection in AE — say, Opacity → Position — automatically re-runs validation against the new property's shape. No manual re-check needed.
This is a separate setting from Settings → Applying, which governs how much checking happens before Apply actually creates controls and sets the expression — see Apply.
