NATIVE SPEED / DEEP CONTROL

The timeline responds while you're still deciding.

fNav+ is compiled C++ loaded directly by After Effects as an AEGP. Every digit edit, custom step, mode switch, and recovery command reaches the timeline without a browser or scripting bridge in between.

The amber HUD shows four controls beyond the destination and math examples above: edit a digit, invoke a configurable step, switch display modes, or restore the playhead's starting frame.

BUILT-IN VS PURPOSE-BUILT

After Effects can go to time. fNav+ turns it into a workflow.

Both paths can be assigned a global shortcut. fNav+ keeps that native immediacy, then adds a persistent interface for calculation, precision editing, live preview, and recovery.

THE WHOLE MOVE

Open. Type. Preview. Commit.

01 / DESTINATION

Type where the playhead belongs.

Frames, explicit timecode, or NLE-style bare digits. The display previews the resolved destination before After Effects moves.

  • 50 → frame 50
  • 1010 → 00:00:10:10
  • 10:10 → 10s 10f

02 / CALCULATION

Do the timeline math in the timeline tool.

Start with an operator for a relative move. Start with a number for standalone math. Multiplication and division keep their proper precedence.

  • +2*20 → 40 ahead
  • 50*3 → frame 150
  • 2+3*4 → frame 14

03 / CONTROL

Edit one digit. Scrub one decision.

Arrow into any digit, overwrite it, or step by its place value. The CTI follows Up/Down live; Enter keeps the move and Escape restores the session start.

  • ←→ select
  • ↑↓ live scrub
  • Esc → snap back

SEE THE WORKFLOW

From shortcut to destination.

This early capture predates the final 1.0.0 skin, but the core move is already here: summon, enter, commit, then tune color, scale, and shortcut behavior.

BROADCAST-ACCURATE

Timecode that speaks After Effects.

True SMPTE drop-frame conversion for 29.97 and 59.94 families, plus integer and fractional composition rates.

Comp display starts, zero/one-based frame numbering, and timecode-conversion mode are handled at the display boundary.

The active frame rate stays visible in Timecode mode. Tab converts the current position without touching project settings.

KEYBOARD MAP

Every key earns its place.

No mode maze. The first arrow engages precision editing; the first digit starts a direct destination.

SETTINGS THAT STAY SET

Your HUD, in your muscle memory.

Record a modified global shortcut, place the HUD where your eyes already are, scale it from 50% to 150%, choose a licensed accent, and tune three fixed stepping amounts.
